Henan University of Technology (HAUT), approved by the State Ministry of Education and Henan Provincial Government in May 2004, was established on the basis of the amalgamation of Zhengzhou Institute of Technology and Zhengzhou Polytechnic Institute. Both Zhengzhou Institute of Technology and Zhnegzhou Polytechnic Institute were founded in 1956. Zhengzhou Institute of Technology, initially named Zhengzhou Grain College, was the first college of the State Grain Ministry and one of the earliest engineering colleges in Henan Province. Zhengzhou Polytechnic Institute was one of the first key institutes awarded the National Model Advanced Engineering Institute.

My decision to major in Civil Engineering is as a direct result of my desire to contribute to the development of infrastructure in my country, aiming towards improving its global standing. Foundation of this lies in my childhood admiration to Civil Engineers who I frequently accompanied for site visitations. Each time I visited the site and witnessed the machines and related processes, my excitement and inquisitiveness knew no bounds. My desire to pursue my MSc in Civil Engineering stems from the gradual accumulation of theories and naïve practical applications of the observed concepts during the site visits. Also as an academician in the Department of Building Technology Sa’adatu Rimi College Of Education Kumbotso, Kano, I would be more competent and productive.
